Bits to chew on, courtesy of Dr. Titus Chiu
As a board-certified chiropractic neurologist, I have a special interest in managing ADD/ADHD using safe and drug-free therapies. Here is a collection of informative articles that I feel will be helpful to those looking for a different alternative to medications. Enjoy!
Update
A recent study came out that shows treating children who have ADHD with drugs is not effective in the long-term. In addition, the study suggested that long-term use could stunt children’s growth, and that the previous benefits stated had been exaggerated.

Medication Risks
ADD/ADHD has become an epidemic in the United States. The most common type of treatment offered is medications. Here is an article I found describing the risks involved with these medications.

Fish Oils
Fish oils have been receiving a lot of attention in the media of late. And with good reason, considering that the average American diet is severely lacking in the healthy omega-3 fats, which are so crucial to your body. These good fats are found in high amounts in fish oils. The following is an article I found reporting on the positive effects fish oils have in the management of ADD. Bon apetit!

Food Additives
Recently I came across an article about the high levels of additives we unwittingly consume in our ‘food’. I was astounded when one of the ‘experts’ from the British Nutrition Foundation said that from a safety standpoint there is “no real problem” with consuming food additives.
Additives lurk in everyday diets
So I did a quick internet search to learn more about the British Nutrition Foundation. I discovered that among the foundation’s member companies are corporations such as McDonald’s, Coca Cola, and Ajinomoto (a mass producer of MSG), to name but a few.
